LOSING MY SON AND DAUGHTER-IN-LAW

IN THREE WEEKS I AM LOSING  my son and daughter-in-law. The two of them are packing up their few belongings and heading back to Colorado. After seven months in Ohio, they've decided it's not for them.

I knew, and I think they knew too, that their move to Marietta was only temporary, until they made up their minds what they wanted. It was wonderful having family close by, and we've enjoyed their weekend visits very much. In fact, we're going to miss Ryan and Trish a lot.

Moving to this part of the country was a risk they took, hoping to find work and a "life" after so many years in the San Luis Valley. Trish had lived all of her 25 years in that valley, and I know she missed her family. Ryan was no stranger to the Midwest, having been born in Michigan, but I could tell he wasn't happy with his job here, and he was frustrated, not being able to paint like before. An artist needs his creative space.

Then they found out they are going to have a baby -- my grandson -- and shortly after that startling news Ryan got an offer to return to his old job in Alamosa, at a higher position. So... right after Easter they are out of here. And you know what? I'm happy for them, and when circumstances change for me, in the near future, I'll be on their heels.
