Getting Caught Up

My work is never ending. Is your life like that? I never seem to get caught up.

When December rolls around each year, I brace myself for the busiest time of the year. It didn't seem to make any difference that this year I changed my publishing schedule for The Star Beacon to a bi-monthly and wouldn't have to put out an issue at the end of the year. And now the deadline is looming on the horizon and I need to get at that long-awaited February issue.

I didn't even have to host family for the holidays this year. It was just Doug and myself. I feel blessed with work and should not be complaining. But the Muse in me is crying... "Why aren't you writing?" It seems my priorities lie with my clients and my loved ones, and I tend to put my needs last. I haven't even touched my piano since Thanksgiving, which is almost unheard of...

So what's the answer? How does one get caught up and begin to enjoy life again? I just do the best I can. I try to stay as organized as I can, although you wouldn't believe that if you walked into my office. Creativity sometimes peaks when you are busy with something else and have to get THAT done. Oh well... soon my work will be wrapped up and I can get on to the next project... SONATA SUMMER.
